Anatomy

An arterial branch arising from the superior cerebellar artery (SCA) that turns around the cerebral peduncle to distribute over the tentorial surface of the cerebellar hemisphere and the dentate nucleus. It coordinates cerebellar motor integration and balance control.

Clinical notes

Neurovascular conflict between the superior cerebellar artery and the root entry zone of the trigeminal nerve (CN V) causes trigeminal neuralgia, cured by microvascular decompression (Jannetta procedure).
