Right posterior division of renal artery (Divisio posterior arteriae renalis)
Educational content only — not medical advice.
Anatomy
A renal arterial structure that passes behind the renal pelvis to supply the posterior renal parenchyma, establishing the relatively avascular plane of Brodel. Renal segmental arteries are anatomical end-arteries whose occlusion leads to wedge-shaped renal infarction.
Clinical notes
Renal artery stenosis triggers renovascular hypertension via renin hypersecretion; Brodel's avascular line guides percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) needle access.

FAQ
What is the role of the Right posterior division of renal artery?
A renal arterial structure that passes behind the renal pelvis to supply the posterior renal parenchyma, establishing the relatively avascular plane of Brodel. Renal segmental arteries are anatomical end-arteries whose occlusion leads to wedge-shaped renal infarction.
Why is the Right posterior division of renal artery clinically important?
Renal artery stenosis triggers renovascular hypertension via renin hypersecretion; Brodel's avascular line guides percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) needle access.
